We are a RIBA Chartered Practice and offer a full service based on a traditional service and the RIBA work stages. We can take your project from concept to completion but also pick it up from anywhere in between or offer a flexible service.
We offer advice on development, planning potential, feasibility studies, adaptation, extensions, historic buildings, new buildings, and maintenance. For historic buildings we carry out inspections and offer a consultancy service.
We are inspecting architects for six Diocese and also the Churches Conservation Trust along with a number of regional and family trusts. Recent clients range from private home owners to national companies and projects from small domestic extensions to multi-million pound redevelopments.
Whether your building is historic or modern, comfort and energy efficiency are a common concern; this is often amplified in the case of historic buildings, where they perform differently to modern structures and therefore, alternative solutions are required that improve their efficiency without compromising their performance and stability. Installing inappropriate insulations, damp-proofing solutions, renders, plasters and finishes can all contribute to an historic building’s poor performance and degradation, and can actually augment problems rather than solve them. We have experience of working with buildings and clients to design solutions that work for both.
Connected to the above is our experience in
introducing renewable heating solutions into use for historic properties, including Ground, Air and Water Source heating systems, biofuels and solar, as well as more traditional systems such as LPG and Oil where necessary. We have experience of introducing and renewing these systems for all kinds of properties and are well placed to advise on options available which will achieve your aims.
Hawkes Edwards are members of both the Green Register and Passivhaus Trust.
