Interior Design Adapatation of Garages

Shaping the future and caring for the past

Our work on old buildings has very often involved snatching a building back from the edge of collapse and dereliction, ensuring its future by putting it to a new use. Such schemes require both ingenuity and sensitivity, in order to preserve the original character whilst breathing new life into the building. We subscribe to the school of conservative repair, as advocated by William Morris and the Society for the Protection of Ancient Buildings, and bring those principles to bear in our work with Historic Buildings.

Much of our work involves meeting the challenge of fitting a new building into an historic or sensitive setting or unlocking the potential of a site where planning policy or environmental constraints threaten the scheme proposed.

House design is the most demanding type of project: Tailoring the brief to fit the client's requirements, producing a design of architectural integrity that satisfies the brief and creates a building of quality and delight. New houses must be designed to reflect their setting and the local traditions; alterations and extensions need to respect the character of the existing but make a positive contribution to the whole. Interior design is an important element of any house and we offer a full interior design service so that this can be co-ordinated from the start of the project.

Recognising the importance of sustainable design, the practice has been keen to introduce sustainable materials, renewable energy and low carbon technologies for all types of projects.
