Church - Stratfor Upon Avon

Shakespearian connections and a chequered past

Founded as the Chapel of the Guild of the Holy Cross in the 13th Century and largely remodelled in the 15th Century by Sir Hugh Clopton, Lord Mayor of London, this delightful little church has been cared for by the practice over many years.

With sturdy Shakespearian connections and a chequered past, one of the joys of the building is the surviving wall paintings. Used every week by boys of the local grammar school, the chapel is complete with collegiate pews and panelling. We have been responsible for re-roofing, masonry repairs, re-hanging of bells, new furniture, refitting of Vestry and designs for new kneelers and altar frontal.

Recent works have included alterations to the oak panelling and stone flagged floor and re-siting the chapel’s font.
